Hi everyone:
Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful for everything and everyone who surrounds us. It is also a great time to consider our foot print on this planet and how we can contribute to a cruelty free and compassionate world.
The easiest way to help the environment and the whole planet is to chose a plant based diet and vegan lifestyle. No animals, environment or people are harmed when leaving animal products off our plates and our bodies. We can actually feed more people, protect the land, water and air by eating vegan.
It takes 219 gallons of water to produce a pound of tofu, it takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce a pound of beef. More than 70 percent of the grain grown in this country is fed to farmed animals, when it could go directly to feeding people and stop the exploit of animals, and the people working in deplorable conditions in slaughter houses.
So many vegan options today make it easy to make the change and enjoy the comfort foods we associate with the holidays.
Whole Foods, Ralphs, Vons, Erewhon, Trader Joe and Gelsons are wonderful local markets to stock up with vegan holiday foods.
You can transform any holiday dish to vegan by using plant based butters, egg substitutes, nut milks, veggie stock, soy, peas, beans and gluten meat analogs.
Also, so many wonderful and easy recipes online for the basic cook or the most accomplished chef. Check out these easy and beautiful recipes:
